 "Flimsy Product" 2010-01-07

Ordered this product for a 4 year old. Believe he was too young to understand how to change from car to robot. Toy was broke the first day.

 "Not worth it" 2009-12-26
By E. Pagel-Hogan (Pittsburgh, PA)
This toy was purchased for my 4 yr old who will be 5 in February. Neither my husband and I can successfully follow the paper instructions and my son has no interest in learning either, it's too hard. The "ages 5+" statement is totally misleading. I will be following another reviewers advice and view the instructions on youtube. This toy was pretty disappointing! We also have lower level Optimus Prime, Grimlock and Bumblebee. Bumblee is the only one my 4 yr old and 2.5 yr old enjoy because he really does transform easily. I can do Grimlock if I'm careful, but Optimus has me stumped. Grimlock's main problems are the fact that his little plastic parts often snap open when you're tryiny to transform him, not that the actual transformation instructions are tricky. I figured him and Bumblebee out without instructions. Optimus, well, I may have to look at his instructions. I've almost got it worked out...but it's more like me playing with rubik's cube than my boys enjoying their long-awaited transformers....

 "too difficult" 2009-11-18
By K. Bolouvi
This transformer, and most of the others, are just too difficult to play with. they are hard to transform. It took some intelligent adults looking at the diagram for 30 minutes just to transform it once. the pieces pop off easily and it will not last long. I would not recommend to anyone.

"Not a good choice for 5 year old" 2009-09-29
By K. Hanson (Oakland, CA)
I bought this for my son's 5th birthday because the age is listed as 5+. It is so hard to change it into the robot, I can't even figure it out with the instructions and I'm an engineer. Lots of frustration and disappointment for my 5 year old. Maybe for a 10 year old, but not for 5.

"Good toy but really hard to transform" 2009-06-30
By J. Detering (Seattle, WA USA)
My 13 and 10 year old boys got these toys and we all found them very hard to transform. Both boys needed to go on You Tube to see a demonstration. Their dad, who is a builder, could not transform the toy without instructions. My 10 year old still can't transform Skids. My 13 year old can do it only by watching the You Tube video.

 "Cool" 2010-02-22
By Maggie May
This scorponok is really cool. His vehicle mode is pretty detailed. His appendages have spinning blades on them that rotate when the toy is rolled forwards or backwards. His scorpion-like tail has a stinger on the end that can be launched forwards, but doesn't come off the toy. During handling, a few of his little feet broke off, which is why the durability rating is 4 stars. Even so, the legs snapped back on easily, and there have been no problems since. This is the absolute easiest toy to transform. There are only about 4 steps to the transformation, and the robots mode is basically the vehicle mode standing up. (See product picture) One of the cooler things about this toy is the fact that he can attach to Voyager Class Grindor. (Sold Separately) Grindor can carry Scorponok into battle by attaching him to his abdomen in vehicle mode. This toy is cool, and yes, I would recommend it to a friend.

 "Cool and fun" 2010-02-15
By CHmom (Hawaii)
I bought this for my son who just turned 4. He loves this toy. It's cool and a little different from the other Transformers because it's a scorpion rather than an automobile. The arms rotate (like a drill) when he's in scorpion form which makes him more menacing. The appendages are made to pop off if too much force is applied and the little grey scorpion legs pop off a little too easily in my opinion because I keep finding them on the floor. But overall, it's a great toy and my son loves it.

He's not a big as he looks on the picture, but none the less, he is cool. As an adult collector he's a great toy to add to your transformer collection. I wouldn't recommend this to smaller kids, seems like small parts may come off.

The vehicle is detailed but no guns. This toy made it the best christmas ever.

 "Kinda disappointed" 2009-08-17
By Pi (Bangalore, India)
When I first saw Breakaway in the stores, before ROTF release, I decided I needed to get him. Even though I knew he wasn't in the movie, I collect TF planes and the fact that he had a F-35 JSF mode made me all the more eager to get my hands on him.

In plane mode, he is amazing! Good, accurate details... I can't ask for more in Deluxe class toy. Had this been a Voyager, you'd expect a firing projectile and stuff. But as a JSF model, this is classy and very realistic looking. The paint job/ camaflouge is ok too... can live with that.

Unfortunately, that's where the good stuff ends.

Had a little trouble tranforming to robot mode, but once I did.... I was massively disappointed at how small his head is. His face/head is pretty much a "pilot's helmet" inside the cockpit. While it looks normal in the pictures, in reality... the head is the same size as a Legends class toy!!! Add in the fact that his head is a same height as his shoulders (instead of above), giving him a hunched-back look. The latter I can live with too, but not the tiny face/head. Plus the cockpit glass keeps getting in the way, so from a distance, you can't really see his face.

The other complaint I have is that Hasbro didn't need to give him feet with four 'toes'. In robot mode, it looks funny. In jet mode, they look really weird when they're tucked away at the bottom of the fuselage. What was wrong with plain, rectangular feet?

All in all, I'm a bit disappointed. And the Mech-Alive feature isn't too great either! I'm just going to keep him in plane mode mostly.

That said, he is same size and looks great next to some of the other jets I have - Dreadwing (Mig-29), Starscream & Thundercracker (F-15s) & Sky Warp (SU-37).

"Could Easily become a favorite" 2009-11-06
By C. Smeriglio
Like the previous reviewer.. I wasnt sure about getting Jolt...but after reading some reviews and seeing other pictures I went ahead and bought him. I am glad I did. This could easily become one of my favorites. I am an old school G1 fan and have always loved Jazz. But Jolt is just very pleasing to the eye..almost captivating. Very easy to get into robot mode and is extremely stable when standing. I am truly hoping the develop this characters personality in the next movie. From the back card on the box, could make for a fun addition.

I recommend getting Jolt..you will not be disappointed

"Jolt is truelly a cool figure!" 2009-08-04
By Erik Martinez
When I first saw pictures of Jolt, I thought his head sculpt looked horrible. When I saw how little he was in the movie, I was convinced I wasn't going to get him. I saw a few video reviews, however, and decided to check him out. I am so glad that I did. His robot mode is so well done. The head still isn't the best, but looks alot better in person. His panels can really be positioned however you want. I recommend the bumpers folded out, the back panels with the thin part up and almost flush with the back. His feet allow a TREMEDOUS amount of posability. Croutching, kneeling, leaning, standing, it's all possible. The blue of the car the the "Allspark" Blue all seem to fit very well together. His elctro whips are a little stubby, but they are cool for action poses. A warning, they have little sharp edges. Nothing too bad, though. His chest mold looks very cool done in the translucent blue, and the Mech alive featured in it is very nice. Waist rotates, and his arms and back can move around alot(his back due to transformation, you can actually make him look hunched over). His transformation is very fun and easy. Every piece seems to just go into place and fold out. His vehicle mode looks good. A bit of a dumpy looking car, but still nice. I would very highly recommend Jolt, and hope that he gets a bigger role in the next movie(or even some extra scenes on the ROTF DVD).

Kids like these and my nephew was delighted with it. But he had problems with one part continually coming off. It didn't bother him as he said they are easy to put back together.  "Fun for my son but not for me" 2010-02-18
By Carol Odom (Henderson, KY USA)
My 9 year old son received his Ultimate Bumblebee for Christmas. He loves it but will not try to transform it himself because he is so afraid of breaking it. When in robot mode it takes several attempts to attach the arms and if he moves them around much they detach and it won't work properly if the arms are not attached. It takes quite a while to transform it from one mode to the other and this is partly because I am afraid of breaking it. This was actually the second one I purchased. The first one was purchased from a retail store and it did not work properly in the car mode so I returned it but this was a popular toy and it was out of stock everywhere I tried until I went to Amazon. Buying this toy at Amazon saved me a LOT of money (approx. $60). So overall the price I ended up paying makes up for some of it's issues.

My son loves his Bumblebee Transformer. He loves the movie, and enjoys acting out the scenes, pretending he's a Transformer, too. Ultimately, this particular Transformer is a bit difficult to transform, compared to others. He has to have help. Unfortunately, we were caught between a rock and a hard place, with this order. Needing it "ASAP" put us in the position of having to pay an extremely high price for shipping.

I purchased this item on Amazon for my son for Christmas after searching every retail store I could think of. No store even had Bumblebee in their inventory. First Off, I was impressed when we received it. The toy was large, it wasn't just some old cheap trinket looking toy. Just as indicated, it is rather challenging to transform it to a camaro [car mode], but we managed to transform it, and I don't think my son would trade this item for another. It did me all the good just to see how much he likes it. I also purchased the Optimus Prime from Target and watching him with the two together is just great!
